Constance Shaw
(Student Letter) - |
I just wanted to send a quick note on feedback for the level one course that I am taking with Chris on Wednesday evenings.
I took this course out of interest in self improvement and a need to develop my creative brain, as I have never given myself permission to do so.
I have been taking this course for a month and find it to exceed my expectations. Chris, our "director of believability," leads the class with great passion. I am very grateful for his intensity that serves each student boundless enthusiasm, seasoned knowledge, and complete sincerity.
I am not alone when I say that I believe Chris is truly dedicated to acting and the students, individually and collectively.
Whether it is helping a student develop the depth of character necessary for a role, or his honesty that that says, "This business is no game,"I appreciate his insights. Chris's understanding of human nature is exceptional and plays an instrumental part of developing the class.
I continue to look forward to the classes and Chris' instruction each week.
Sincerely,
Constance Shaw, MBA, B.Sc.

Anthony Lance
(Student Letter) - |
My name is Anthony Lance, and I recently attended the four week course for T.V commercials and auditioning and I have to say that your school is absolutely incredible. I don't know where to begin to express how amazing the classes were, which were instructed by Mr. Christopher Healy. My agent Susan J had referred me to the Academy to pursue the beginners acting course, and when she said that this Chris Healy guy was amazing, she was NOT kidding. Mr. Healy's passion for his job and the film and television industry is incredible and powerful. I have never once in my life met someone so dedicated to their profession, and when Mr. Healy speaks and gives us insight as to what the industry is like, you can feel the passion and tell this man is truly genuine. You look around the classroom and every student is sitting in silence just absorbing every piece of information that he says because his teaching methods are that good. The way he creates such a "hands on" environment is what makes learning there so much more fun. When we could all interact with one another, and then he is able to explain the importance and significance of the activity we did truly made it 100 times easier to remember concepts, rules, and very important helpful ways to practice, stand out and land that audition! I was a little sceptical at first on spending the money for the course, but after the first 10 minutes in the classroom, I could instantly tell that this was a serious business, that I was in the right place, and the Toronto Academy of Acting was no scam. The way he teaches his course, you can tell that he is dead serious about what he does, and he is not fooling around. The way he instructs makes everyone in the class just tune in. If you haven't seen this man teach, then you won't understand what I mean. It's too difficult to describe. One thing I truly think is incredible is that he is willing to go into overtime, surpass the 3 hour class just to teach us a little bit more about what it's like in the real world for film and television. His kindness, sincerity, passion, amazing skill of acting, and teaching methods are out of this world. I have never experienced anything like this and would refer your school to anyone interested in receiving professional classes. Mr. Healy is an exceptional teacher, and I would not have driven all the way from Peterborough to Toronto, booked off work, missed my university classes and paid 500 or so dollars if it wasn't for him. Absolutely Exceptional!!!!!!!
Basically I am saying that Mr. Healy is an amazing asset to your business, and I am now considering taking Level Two, which he recommended I take soon or sometime down the road to improve my acting skills even further, build my resume up as much as possible as workshop training is an excellent addition to any actors resume. I can't wait and hope I can come up with the money soon.
Thanks again for providing such an excellent service Mr. Healy and The Toronto Academy of Acting for Film and Television.

| John Clark Smith (Parent letter)- |
I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know how much we appreciate the great work that Christopher Healey is doing. My daughter is completing Level 1 of the Academy's program and I (or my wife) have sat in on most of the sessions with our daughter, and we are very impressed with the skills and wisdom that Chris is giving her. And he does it all with such passion and enthusiasm!! Bravo!!!
Chris is, of course, skilled and knowledgeable about theatre and film. Some people might think that that is a given, but in this town, in our experience, there are many programs that do not seem to have teachers who know their stuff (or don't want to share it). Such programs are recreational, not professional. So an important quality that he has is the ability to teach young folk (and parents, if they sit in) about professional life (and life in general). It is so critical, we think, that kids interested in film or theatre get a feeling of what happens and what is expected. He not only teaches the skills, he puts the students in the context of a professional "job" in film or theatre. And if they don't behave as they would in a professional situation, if they are, for example, late, or fail to learn their lines, or don't listen, etc., they get treated just as they would at a shoot, on a set or stage. "You just cost the producers $750,000!" Chris would say. To my daughter, who in one situation continually failed to listen, he said: "Do that one more time and you're fired." It worked. She paid attention and got the point.
Please don't misunderstand: To those who do the work and try, he is, of course, fair and helpful, and he will work and work with them until they imrprove.
So he is kind and gentle to those who try, but tough on those who waste the time of the other kids or himself. But it's all true to professional life, and we think it's the way to create mature artists of the future. I am sure that those who graduate from his studio and follow his teachings are going to comprise a successful group.

| Ardiana Golja (Parent letter)- |
Hi Chris,
This is Ardiana Golja, Ana's mother. This is long overdue, and I wanted to
thank you not only for being a great teacher, but also for believing in Ana
and her talent. If you didn't insist on sending her at the ITP show and
continuing with her acting, Ana would not have all these opportunities she
is having. She had two auditions so far and was successful on both of them.
She finished shooting her first television series called : MISSING (with
great success), and starting her commercial on mid September. Her experience
was beyond her imaginations, and she had the best summer of her life. She is
going for her third one Monday August 29th.
Thank you again
Ardiana Golja

| Pamela Yurek (former student)- |
Hi,
I am a former student of TAA and would like to submit my success. I have landed a role in a commercial, music video, tv series and numerous independent films as well as theatre. Much of my success goes to my acting coach Kenneth McGregor who always taught me to push myself and my limits. He encouraged me to pursue my dream and now I can say I am living them. Thanks so much Kenneth.
If you could forward this letter on to him it would be greatly appreciated as he was not only my coach but a mentor and I would love to get in touch with an old friend.
Much appreciated.
Pamela Yurek
